Engraving and Monogram Tips

Traditional Monogram (Used for Women & Men)

All monograms will be done in this style unless you select the Times Block font - ALL LETTERS SAME SIZE.  Font choices for traditional monogramming include Interlocking Monogram, Circle Monogram, Times Block Monogram, Curlz Monogram, and for some products, the Vine Monogram.  List monogram initials in the order of First, LAST, Middle.

Example:  Victoria Elizabeth Brown's monogram would be VBE and you would list the initials for engraving in this order.

The traditional monogram style looks like this:

vbe

Same Size Monogram (Typically used for Men)

If you would like your monogram to be done with all three letters the same size, please select the  Times Block Monogram - ALL LETTERS SAME SIZE font.  Be sure to list initials in the order that you would like them to appear.  For this style monogram, the letters should be placed in the order of First, Middle, Last.

Example:  John Richard Green's monogram would be JRG and you would list the initials for engraving in this order.

This monogram style looks like this:

jrg

Writing Fonts (Names, Dates & Messages)

When engraving a name, message or date, select one of our writing fonts.  Writing font choices include Times Block, Century, Victoria, Doodle, Curlz and Cursive.  Keep your messages short!  Longer names or messages must be engraved smaller in order to fit and may be hard to read.  The Times Block font is recommended for longer messages as this font tends to be easier to read when engraved small.

Personalization and Engraving Tips

1.

When sending us your engraving instructions, please realize that we cannot take them over the phone without a written copy.  While we prefer email, you may fax your TYPED instructions to 812-295-4826.

2.

Please be as SPECIFIC as possible. Use proper grammar, punctuation, and only use capital letters where you want them. We will engrave it just as you write it. From these instructions, our artist using their experience and judgment will produce the layout and proof.

3.

You may send us an instruction file you created as GIFs, TIFs, PDFs, CorelDraw, Microsoft Word files. Hand drawings of your rough idea or layout~we love to see your original ideas!

4.

We can use your artwork and logo, but we will assume you have the legal right to use such artwork. The work should be 3x's the size you want it engraved.  At this size, the artwork must have clean, crisp edges.  Please use a high resolution file. Black and white only, please. No grays or colors. If it becomes necessary to re-draw your artwork for engraving, we will inform you of the charges before doing so. Typically, artwork re-draws cost $25 per hour.

Regarding photos: Not all photos are suitable for engraving. Black and white original photos are best.  Please scan your photo (if you are emailing it to us) at either 300 dpi or 600 dpi as a grayscale bitmap. You may also mail us your photo and it will be returned to you safety.  While we cannot make a small photo larger, we can take a large photo and make it smaller. Again, our artists will let you know if your photo needs clean up.
